Moldovan President Maia Sandu has been honored with the GLOBSEC award. Together with her, the award was received by the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola. The GLOBSEC organizers justified the awarding of the prize to Maia Sandu by her “commitment to defend democracy under unprecedented pressure, as well as her role in ensuring a stable future and reforms in Moldova”.

Electrical equipment, plant products, furniture, fats and oils, as well as wines and beverages were the main categories of goods exported by Moldova to the European Union (EU) in 2025. The total value of Moldovan exports to the European market exceeded $2.55 billion.

The Law on Accounting and Financial Reporting is amended to increase the financial criteria for determining the categories of enterprises and groups of companies. The new limits will apply to the classification of microenterprises, small, medium and large entities, and groups of companies. The relevant amendments were adopted by the Parliament in the second reading and will come into force on January 1, 2027.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo has said that the idea of granting Ukraine the status of an “associate member” of the European Union does not enjoy support inside the EU and does not yet have political conditions for implementation.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has proposed granting Ukraine the status of an “associate member” of the European Union. This status implies the possibility for the country’s representatives to participate in the work of the association’s governing institutions without the right to vote.

The Republic of Moldova will be supported in harmonizing its activities with EU legislation in the field of agriculture and rural development. An agreement on this issue was signed in Rome between the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) and the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (CIHEAM Bari).

The MAIA Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, as well as a number of subordinate bodies and institutions “are subject to reorganization and institutional restructuring”. Moldovan President Maia Sandu has received the Order of European Merit. This is a new award established on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration. Its goal is to recognize an outstanding contribution to the European integration and protection of the EU values. The head of state called the award a great honor.

The number of cars registered in Moldova in 2025 exceeded 1.38 million, increasing by 210 thousand units over three years. Dense traffic is especially felt in the capital. In Chisinau, about 400 thousand cars travel daily, which provokes constant traffic jams, worsens the environmental situation and overloads the city’s infrastructure.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization will expand its central apparatus by 33 staff units. The aim of the reform is to strengthen the ministry’s capacity to implement EU legislation and manage new areas transferred to the institution, including tourism and technological innovation.

Almost one million lei is planned to be spent this year from the state budget to create a new information system that will monitor the international restrictive measures applied by Moldova and will allow reporting online about attempts to circumvent them.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugeniu Osmokescu announced a public invitation to the investment conference “EU-Moldova”, which will be held on 4 June in the building of a commercial bank. According to the minister, it will be “a grandiose event that Moldova has never seen before in terms of attracting investments”.

The Republic of Moldova is in the “resistance” phase and is trying to institutionally counter hybrid threats by strengthening cooperation with the European Union and implementing internal reforms.

The protection of fundamental rights, combating hate speech and bias crimes, as well as the implementation of the Roadmap for the Rule of Law were discussed in Brussels during the 10th meeting of the EU-Moldova Sub-Committee on Justice, Freedom and Security.
