“We take note of Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu’s decision to resign. We respect the constitutional and democratic processes of the Republic of Moldova and look forward to the formation of a new government,” said European Commission Spokesperson Markus Lammerth on Monday, July 6.
According to the European Commission, the partnership between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova “remains strong,” and Brussels will continue to support the country’s reforms and European integration in accordance with the will of its citizens.
“We are confident that the new government will be formed quickly, in full accordance with Moldova’s constitutional and democratic processes. We are also confident that Moldova will maintain the momentum of its reform agenda and continue on the path toward EU accession in accordance with the will of the Moldovan people,” added Markus Lammerth.
