In particular, senior officials from the Republic of Moldova’s government agencies held talks with the Director-General of the Directorate-General for Enlargement and the Eastern Region (DG ENEST), the Director-General of the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI), the Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE), a representative of the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE), and the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food.

During official meetings, MAIA Minister Liudmila Catlabuga presented “the progress made by the Republic of Moldova in preparing for accession to the European Union in the agri-food sector, with a focus on three chapters of the negotiations—agriculture and rural development, food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary policy, and fisheries and aquaculture,” according to a MAIA statement.

ANSA Director General Radu Mustață briefed European Commission officials on the implementation of the recommendations made following this year’s DG SANTE inspections. In particular, compliance with these requirements led to a positive decision by the relevant EU authorities regarding Moldova’s request to obtain the right to export processed pork to the EU.
