The dialogue between the parties focused on the progress made by the Republic of Moldova in aligning its national system and practices with the requirements of the European Union. This aspect is important in the context of the Republic of Moldova–EU negotiations on Chapter 12 – ‘Food Safety, Sanitary and Veterinary, and Phytosanitary Policy’.

During the meeting, other priority areas of cooperation were also discussed:

  • strengthening support for small-scale food businesses as they adapt to the European Union’s new safety requirements and standards;
  • combating antimicrobial resistance and strengthening laboratory capacity;
  • the prevention and monitoring of transboundary animal diseases;
  • strengthening the role of the Codex Alimentarius and Moldova’s participation in international standard-setting mechanisms in the field of food safety.

A particular topic of discussion was the participation of ANSA representatives in the 34th session of the FAO/WHO Coordinating Committee for Europe, to be held in Berlin from 21 to 25 September 2026.
