As previously reported by Logos Press, school textbooks are to be updated. Tattered, dirty textbooks or those with pages torn out must not be given to pupils and must be withdrawn from use.
This was stated by the Ministry of Education and Research following criticism regarding the condition of some textbooks issued to pupils at the start of the new academic year.
How damaged textbooks are replaced
Firstly, the school itself must attempt to resolve the issue. The school counts how many textbooks are missing or how many copies need replacing, and passes this information on to the education authority. After that, efforts are made to find the missing books in other schools within the same district, municipality or the Gagauzia Autonomous Region, and to redistribute them amongst the institutions.
If no suitable textbooks are available locally, a request is sent to the Special Textbook Fund. The Fund checks whether the required books are available in other districts and in the national reserve, which is stored at the Mold-Didactica warehouse. Textbooks may be supplied from this reserve or from localities where there are surplus copies.
The additional distribution of textbooks and their transfer between districts are approved by order of the Minister of Education and Research.
You can complete the form if you have already contacted the school to request a replacement textbook but the issue has not been resolved.
Applications will be considered by the Special Textbook Fund. If the complaint is upheld, the school will be provided with the necessary copies via the district or municipal education authority.
From 2027, alongside the introduction of the new school curriculum, the textbook fund will be gradually updated to meet new quality standards.
The form is available until 30 September 2026.
