In the face of soaring energy and fuel prices, government agencies are moving to strict cost control. Ministers and agencies are obliged to cut all unnecessary purchases by at least 10%, and expenses on official transportation by at least 20%.

The Government of Moldova initiated the activation of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism for a rapid response to oil spills in the Dniester River. Additionally, the involvement of the Ministry of Defense was requested with military personnel, vehicles and pieces of equipment.

Systems to combat loud cars may start to be used in Moscow in 2027.

Moldova has requested technical assistance from Romania to eliminate the consequences of the pollution of the Dniester River with oil products. Romania can provide specialized equipment and additional filters to purify the water and prevent further spread of pollution.

The transportation of liquefied natural gas from the USA via Romania is extremely important for Ukraine and at the same time beneficial for Moldova. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in Bucharest at a joint press conference with Romanian President Nicusor Dan after their official meeting.

With the support of the Government of Canada, local authorities from Balti municipality will modernize sanitary blocks at the Maxim Gorky Theoretical Lyceum. The total cost of the project is 80 thousand Canadian dollars (over one million lei). Up to 60 thousand Canadian dollars (about 760 thousand lei) is provided by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives program, and the rest of the sum is invested by the local authorities of the “northern capital”.

Moldova plans to increase defense spending to 1% of GDP by 2030. This benchmark was discussed in parliament as part of a draft simple vote of no confidence in the leadership of the Defense Ministry.

The March increase in prices for diesel fuel and nitrogen fertilizers may lead to an increase in production costs of agricultural producers by at least 20% during the period from spring field work (March-April) to the beginning of sowing winter crops for the future harvest (August-September).

Water inflow from the Carpathians to the Dniester reservoir decreased from 300 to 200 cubic meters per second. This occurs in a situation of rather high temperature conditions for the first half of March (up to plus 20 degrees Celsius during the day and above zero at night). The flow into the Moldovan part of the river (downstream of the Dniester HPP, Novodnestrovsk, Ukraine) is still the same – about 100 cubic meters per second.

The Government is launching a pilot program to replace elevators in apartment buildings. At the initial stage, the program will be a pilot one, and its implementation will last for one year. 40 million lei has been allocated for the first stage.

In 2025, the structures of the Ministry of the Interior carried out 32.9 million accesses to state information systems with personal data – registers of population, real estate, transportation, drivers and legal entities. This is almost 5 million more than in the previous year. The Information and Security Service (ISS) increased the number of accesses from 140,000 to more than half a million.

In 2025, the Moldovan Ministry of Defense relied on modernizing military facilities and increasing the social protection of personnel. 346.1 million lei was spent on infrastructure. 18 facilities were overhauled, construction was carried out at 46 other facilities, and a total of 63 military facilities were modernized and built within the framework of the project “Military Camp 136 Băcioi”.

The blockage of the Gulf of Hormuz provoked a rise in the price of oil, gas and, along the chain, nitrogen fertilizers (by about 15-20% – depending on the geography of markets).

Projects under the program “Europe Nearby”, through which the modernization of local roads is financed, continue to be implemented in many settlements of the republic. In February, 74 road repair projects were financed under this program. One project, in Ciorescu commune, Chisinau mun. Chisinau, has been completed. This is evidenced by the data provided by the National Bureau of Regional and Local Development.

The Inspector General of Police will receive 17 special vehicles to function as mobile police stations, as well as 340 in-car video systems to document operations.
