The Moldovan Parliament has adopted in final reading the abolition of tax exemptions for left-bank enterprises with the phased introduction of VAT and excise taxes on import and sale of goods. It is planned to start already this year, and to completely switch to the new rules – by 2030. The released funds will be directed to the Convergence Fund for the development of infrastructure and social sphere on the left bank.

Moldova is withdrawing from the Energy Charter Treaty (TCE), an international agreement dating back to the 1990s, which, according to the authorities, is no longer in line with the energy transition policy and the development of renewable energy sources. The draft was approved by Parliament in two readings at today’s session.

On July 1, 2026, changes will go into effect to eliminate customs duties on most goods imported from the United States.

President Maia Sandu has signed a decree appointing Alexandru Macidon as Moldova’s prosecutor-general.

Moldova will attract $400 million in financing from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), a member of the World Bank Group.
