The agency believes that this will contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the national economy, with a focus on reducing production costs and stimulating industrial development.
According to the ministry’s information, the authorities are working on defining a clear list of basic resources, raw materials, components and intermediate products – depending on the real needs of the economy. The aim is to facilitate access to resources that are unavailable or produced in insufficient quantities on the domestic market, thus contributing to reducing production costs and increasing the value added created locally.
The application of the regime will be based on objective, transparent and non-discriminatory criteria, in accordance with national legislation and international obligations of the Republic of Moldova. The measure is aimed exclusively at sectors where there is a real scarcity of resources, without creating competitive distortions or affecting existing local production.
The ministry’s communication emphasizes that the process is being carried out in close cooperation with the business community, the Ministry of Finance and the Customs Service in order to identify priority sectors and develop an efficient and easy-to-apply mechanism.
The initiative is aimed at reducing production costs, stimulating local processing and industrial investments, increasing the competitiveness of Moldovan products and boosting exports. It is also part of a broader concept of economic transformation focused on industrial development and strengthening the sustainability of the national economy, the ministry said.
