Over the past week, the National Tax Service has contributed 1 billion lei to the budget.

According to preliminary data, revenue to the national public budget (NPB), administered by the State Tax Service, for the period from 7 to 11 September 2026 amounted to approximately 1 billion lei.

According to the agency, during this period, National Tax Service staff carried out 231 tax audits involving 192 taxpayers. Following these audits, the National Tax Service’s General Directorate for Control issued 148 decisions on cases of legislative breaches, resulting in the calculation of additional liabilities to the budget totalling 12.8 million lei. Of this amount, 9.6 million lei comprised taxes, duties, late payment penalties and other charges, whilst 3.2 million lei comprised fines imposed.

In addition, 73 decisions were issued regarding VAT refunds from the budget, pursuant to which VAT amounting to 174.2 million lei was approved for refund.

In order to settle the tax liabilities of defaulters, between 7 and 11 September 2026, the State Tax Service enforced the collection of 67.4 million lei.

Furthermore, over the past week, the National Tax Service ensured that 10 cases involving confiscated property, totalling 494,250 lei, were registered. During this period, 65,380 lei, received from the sale of the confiscated property, was transferred to the budget.
