In the deciding match, the Belarusian lost to Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina 4–6, 7–5, 2–6.
During the match, Sabalenka hit the ball out of bounds several times with great force. After the match, the tennis player smashed her racket whilst sitting in her seat, and then used foul language towards a cameraman from one of the TV channels.
This was Sabalenka’s first defeat at the US Open since 2023. In 2024 and 2025, the Belarusian won the tournament.
It should be noted that Logos Press previously published the results of the US Open. In the men’s final, the tournament’s top seed, Alexander Zverev, defeated the American Ben Shelton 6–3, 7–6(2), 5–7, 6–2. Six years ago, the German had already reached the US Open final, but on that occasion he squandered a 2–0 lead in sets. This time, Zverev ensured that scenario did not repeat itself. He started the match confidently, took the second set in a tie-break, and after losing the third set, clinched victory in the fourth.
