Barcelona thrashed Feyenoord, PSG scored six goals: how the Champions League matches went on 9 September

On Wednesday 9 September, six matches in the group stage of the 2026/2027 UEFA Champions League took place. The highest-scoring matches were those in Paris and Barcelona.

Barcelona thrashed Feyenoord 5–1 at home. Raphinha scored a brace, whilst Adeyemi, Lamine Yamal and Gabriel Jesus each scored once. Steyn scored for the visitors.

PSG also secured a resounding victory. The Parisians beat Slovan 6–1. Fernando Torres, who scored the ‘golden goal’ at the World Cup and recently moved to PSG from Barcelona, bagged a hat-trick, whilst Ousmane Dembélé scored twice and Fabián Ruiz added another. Souleymane Kamara scored Slovan’s only goal.

Liverpool beat Atlético 2–1 at home. The Madrid side opened the scoring through Llorente, but Soboslai equalised before half-time. In the 50th minute, Mac Allister secured victory for the English club.

Arsenal narrowly beat Napoli 1–0. Edegor scored the only goal in the 75th minute.

Stuttgart beat Viking 3–1. Demirovic scored all three goals for the German side. Tripic scored for the visitors.

Sporting also won 3–1. The Lisbon club proved too strong for Galatasaray. One of the goals in the match was an own goal by Gonçalo Inácio. Katamo, Luis Suárez and Salazar also scored for Sporting.

PSG remain the reigning Champions League champions. In the final of the 2025/2026 season, the Parisians beat Arsenal 4–3 on penalties following a 1–1 draw in normal time.

The final of this season’s Champions League is scheduled for 5 June 2027. The match will take place at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.
