Reports can be submitted without providing a name, telephone number or email address. Users can select the type of incident, attach photographs, specify the location and, optionally, add a description. According to police representatives, it takes approximately one minute to complete a report.
“It is an additional, digital channel through which anyone can submit an anonymous report to the police. No contact, no login, no name, no phone number or email. Filling in that useful information, which can help to disrupt or eliminate drug-related behaviour, takes no more than a minute,” said a police spokesperson.
Reports are automatically routed to the relevant local police station and are then forwarded to a local police officer for investigation. The system allows the stages of the investigation to be monitored and also generates directions to the specified location for the police team.
The platform is already available on Google Play.
The launch of the platform is part of joint initiatives by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Research to prevent drug use and distribution amongst children and young people.
Police representatives have clarified that the StopDrog platform does not replace the 112 service. In the event of an immediate danger, members of the public should call the emergency number 112.
