Stoyanoglo stated that he intends to take responsibility specifically for the autonomous region’s executive power, emphasising that, for him, the position itself is not an end in itself.

“For me, the question is not which post is higher, but what more you can achieve and what you are prepared to take personal responsibility for. I am prepared to take responsibility for the executive authority of the autonomous region,” said the candidate.

Alexander Stoyanoglo emphasised that he does not intend to make promises to voters that go beyond the powers of the Bashkan. According to him, every initiative must have clear timelines, sources of funding and those responsible for the outcome.

In his future programme, Stoyanoglo intends to focus on the economy and job creation, the brain drain, rural development, education and the autonomy’s potential.

“Relations between Comrat and Chișinău require due respect for the autonomy’s powers in order to resolve people’s problems. Differences of opinion must not turn into constant conflict, nor must conflict turn into deadlock,” noted Stoyanoglo.

However, he does not intend to relinquish his parliamentary mandate. For the duration of the election campaign, his parliamentary activities will be suspended in accordance with the law.

“The mandate remains in force, but the exercise of parliamentary powers and participation in the election campaign must be clearly separated,” he explained.

Stoyanoglo also stated that the elections must take place on a level playing field for all candidates — regardless of the positions they hold or the administrative or financial resources at their disposal.

Stoyanoglo intends to present his election manifesto separately, promising to set out specific objectives, timetables for implementation and sources of funding.

“One must be accountable for what has been done, and for what has not been done too. I am standing for election as Bashkan, fully aware of this responsibility,” he concluded.

The election for Bashkan of Gagauzia will take place on 15 November 2026. On the same day, the residents of the autonomous region will elect a new composition of the People’s Assembly. The decision on the election date was taken by the Central Electoral Commission on 1 September.
