
The Turkish parliamentary delegation was led by Kursad Zorlu, vice president of Turkey’s Justice and Development Party (AK Party).
During the meeting, Tofan called Turkey a key partner of the Republic of Moldova and stated that Chisinau seeks to further strengthen bilateral relations through cultural ties, investments, and closer economic cooperation.
The officials also discussed the development of Gagauzia, emphasizing the importance of preserving the region’s identity and creating new economic opportunities for its residents.
The Moldovan government noted Turkey’s contribution to the region’s development, stating that Turkish partners have implemented more than 500 projects in Moldova, about 90% of which are located in Gagauzia.
Another topic of discussion was the expansion of Turkish investments in Moldova. According to government data, there are currently about 1,200 companies with Turkish capital operating in the country.
Turkish lawmakers expressed interest in new investment opportunities, including the development of production facilities. Potential areas of discussion included industry, renewable energy, tourism—including medical tourism—and telecommunications.
