Moldova will establish an Insurance Guarantee Fund designed to ensure compensation payments to victims of traffic accidents in the event of the insolvency, bankruptcy, or liquidation of insurance companies. The management of this fund will be entrusted to the Deposit Guarantee Fund within the banking system.

Effective July 1, 2026, the special tax regime that has been in effect for taxi drivers until now will be repealed. The standard wage tax regime in effect in Moldova will apply to them.

Residents of the Coșnița commune in the Dubăsari district are voting today in a local referendum to decide the fate of the sand quarries that have sprung up right next to their homes. Residents will vote on whether they agree to ban mineral extraction within one and a half kilometers (or, more precisely, 1.2 km) of the boundaries of the villages of Coșnița and Pohrebea.

Starting January 1, 2027, the minimum rate for property tax and land tax may be 0.1%, and the maximum rate may be 1%. This amendment is included in the draft tax policy for 2027.

Single parents with children under the age of 16 will not be required to work night shifts without their consent. This provision is included in a bill currently under consideration in parliament. The bill establishes the concept of an “employee with family responsibilities” in the Labor Code.

Within the European Union, the idea of deporting migrants outside the bloc is gaining traction, but France and Spain have decided to go against the tide. The unions disagree with a number of measures which, in their view, could affect the standard of living, social protection for workers, and the competitiveness of the national economy.
