The document sets out general requirements for food safety; it “aims to establish a comprehensive system for risk prevention and management”. It also provides for mandatory traceability of food products at all stages of production and sale – “from farm to fork”.

MAIA’s management has promised to “analyse the proposals received from business associations during the consultations whilst finalising the draft bill before moving on to the next stages of the legislative process”.
