The Moldovan and Austrian authorities have agreed on economic cooperation projects

The energy sector, intellectual property, metrology and standardisation, tourism, agriculture – particularly livestock farming – dual education and regional development were the key topics for discussion at the sixth session of the Moldovan-Austrian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation this week. The session took place in Austria.

During the plenary session, representatives of government bodies and the business community from both countries discussed projects at both government and private-sector levels. Following the commission’s meeting, a protocol was signed providing for meetings to be held between sectoral experts and business representatives. The seventh meeting of the joint commission will take place in Chișinău.

The Moldovan delegation during the visit to Austria included Sergiu Gerciu, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture.  Furthermore, following the meeting of the intergovernmental commission, he held talks with his counterpart from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regional Affairs and Water Management, Johannes Abentung. The dialogue focused on the issue of harmonising the regulatory framework of Moldova’s agri-food sector in line with EU requirements and standards.
