
According to police reports, searches of their homes led to the discovery and seizure of weapons, ammunition and other items. Drugs were also found in the home of one of the suspects, along with homemade devices for the consumption of illicit substances.
The seized items will be sent for forensic analysis. Law enforcement officers are investigating whether other individuals are involved.
Statistics on drug dealers for September
In September 2026, law enforcement agencies in Moldova reported several major cases relating to drug trafficking.
One of the most serious cases involved an international drug network. Case files concerning two Moldovan nationals, aged 36 and 51, were referred to court. According to the prosecution, they were involved in the production and transport of 40 kg of methamphetamine.
The network operated across several countries – Moldova, the Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria. A total of 16 people were arrested in connection with the case. According to the investigation, one of the accused was responsible for running an underground laboratory in Moldova.
Another sentence was handed down on 9 September. A court in Chișinău sentenced a former senior security officer at Penitentiary No. 10 in Crioca to seven years in prison. He was found guilty of attempting to smuggle drugs into the prison.
Operational activities are also continuing. In the space of a week, the Moldovan police detained 20 people suspected of using and distributing drugs.
In Chișinău, law enforcement officers also seized drugs worth around 400,000 lei over the course of the week. Thirteen criminal cases were opened in connection with this, and eight people were detained.
