Its aim is to provide consumers with practical advice on the rational use of energy, the efficient operation of equipment and the reduction of energy losses.
The campaign materials will cover measures that can be implemented without significant investment, as well as energy efficiency solutions that require investment but can deliver long-term savings. Separately, consumers will be informed about the opportunities available under government programmes.
‘Since 2022, the Ministry of Energy has drawn up an annual Plan for Preparing for the Cold Season, which includes scenarios and specific measures for managing risks in the energy sector. Voluntary reduction in consumption is one of these measures, and providing the right information helps people understand the context and act responsibly. In the context of a regional energy crisis, exacerbated by drought, Russia’s war against Ukraine and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, every watt saved counts. Through simple actions, each of us can contribute to the country’s energy security,” said Energy Minister Dorin Jungietu.
Reducing wastage, using energy efficiently
According to CNED Director Ion Munteanu, energy efficiency not only reduces consumption but also allows for better control over expenditure. “When consumption is managed more effectively and wastage is reduced, households, institutions and companies become less dependent on price fluctuations and can plan their expenditure more effectively,” he noted.
As part of the campaign, guidance on the efficient use of energy in households, public institutions and businesses will be distributed. In particular, this involves reducing unnecessary consumption, using electrical appliances and equipment efficiently, managing consumption during the cold season, and taking measures to reduce energy wastage.
Information materials will be distributed via the communication channels of the organisations participating in the campaign, as well as being printed on the back of energy bills.
The CNED also plans to inform consumers about existing funding programmes for energy-efficient solutions. These include the EcoVoucher programme for household appliances and the Moldova Residential Energy Efficiency Fund (FEERM), under which the Casa Verde financial product is available.
According to the CNED, these programmes are designed to reduce consumers’ energy costs, improve energy efficiency and expand access to solutions that enable more rational use of energy.
