During this period, the airport will step up operations in areas experiencing high volumes of traffic. The Border Police, the Customs Service and the airport administration will increase staffing levels, whilst passenger flow management will be adjusted promptly in line with the situation.
The authorities hope this will speed up border control procedures and reduce waiting times for passengers. At the same time, measures will be taken to maintain order and security at the airport.
The plan is to manage the additional passenger flow within the existing infrastructure to ensure the airport continues to operate normally and to avoid disrupting scheduled flights.
Hasidic pilgrims travel via Moldova to Ukraine, to Uman, where events are held annually to mark Rosh Hashanah and where the grave of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov is visited.
It should be noted that for the summer season of 2026, around 70 international routes to 33 countries have been announced from Chișinău, served by 28 airlines.
At the same time, the airport is already taking additional measures to cope with the high seasonal demand: in July, a temporary pre-flight waiting area was opened to relieve pressure on the terminal during peak hours.
In July, Chisinau Airport handled 811,000 passengers – an average of around 26,000 people per day. A total of 5,402 aircraft movements were recorded during the month.
In August, at the height of the summer season, Chisinau Airport operated at peak summer capacity. During periods of peak traffic, staff processed more than 1,900 passengers per hour, whilst the terminal is designed to handle 800 passengers per hour.
