According to the Prime Minister, the authorities must hear about entrepreneurs’ problems directly from them and find ways to make their work easier.
“There are many problems, and we have a lot to resolve, but I have received assurances from Mr Manchu that ANSA will do everything possible to make life easier for small producers. For example, a small producer of home-made preserves can supply their products to a local nursery, school or hospital. A small business owner who wants to experiment in their own kitchen and try producing new products should have that opportunity. A small cheese producer should not have to undergo two inspections per season – from March to September,” said the Prime Minister.
Tofan emphasised that quality and food safety controls are essential, but the requirements for small producers should not be the same as those for large industrial enterprises.
According to Tofan, the state must not, however, abolish basic food safety requirements.
The Prime Minister also called for simplifying the interaction between entrepreneurs and state bodies and reducing the number of procedures and documents.
“I have asked Alexandra Manchu to present, by 15 October, a comprehensive package of measures to simplify operations for small businesses and artisan producers. Today, overly complex regulations often play into the hands of imports, as well as industrial and highly processed products, to the detriment of small local producers — including those who produce environmentally friendly products,” concluded Vasile Tofan.
It should be recalled that, following complaints received from entrepreneurs, the Prime Minister had previously instructed the relevant authorities to prepare proposals by 9 September to reduce the administrative burden on entrepreneurs.
