Hajder urged buyers to pay attention to the price of firewood and check whether it matches the official price. When making a purchase, it is essential to obtain an invoice or other document confirming the transaction.
Before buying firewood, members of the public are advised to obtain a document confirming payment and to keep it safe. It may be required during checks by inspectors or the police.
The authorities also reminded the public of the consequences of breaching the law. In the event of illegal felling or sale, the timber may be confiscated. Vehicles used to transport it may also be seized.
According to the ministry, the current price of one cubic metre of softwood ranges from 445 to 1,143 lei (depending on the forestry enterprise), whilst hardwood costs between 950 and 1,630 lei.
