On April 8, the government presented the concept of local self-government reform. The administrative-territorial reform planned by the authorities is criticized both by independent analysts and opposition politicians, as well as by many mayors – both its concept and methods of implementation.

UPDATED. Citizens living in the state housing stock on the terms of rent will have the opportunity to privatize housing for three more years – until May 31, 2029. The corresponding initiative was considered at a meeting of the parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finance. At least 3,000 people should live in a village, and the government plans to keep 10 out of 32 districts. At the same time, the package of financial incentives for the unification of mayoralties will amount to 6,491 billion lei.

“Democracy is a path that requires constant attention and consistent action,” said Alexei Buzu, secretary general of the government, at the 50th session of the CoE Congress. He addressed the forum on April 1 on behalf of Moldova’s chairmanship of the CoE Committee of Ministers.

The prime minister said that as early as next week, the government may go to parliament with ready documents and propose the lifting of the state of emergency regime. The Cabinet of Ministers will not extend it “for a single day longer than necessary”.
