This document and the problem itself were discussed at a municipal forum that launched a campaign to combat the spread of drugs among students and young people. At the end of the forum, an action was organized in the central square of the capital, during which hundreds of students and young people said NO to drugs!

The forum was attended by several hundred school leaders, teachers, psychologists, education, health and child protection specialists, national and international experts.

“This is an important document for Chisinau,” said Chisinau Mayor General Ion Ceban, opening the forum. – We see how serious the problem of drug use has become and how aggressively those involved in trafficking try to influence children and adolescents, including in educational institutions. It is our duty to resolutely counteract this phenomenon that destroys lives and families”.

What measures are planned

The municipal plan consists of four areas: information, prevention, intervention and monitoring.

It sets out a list of measures to be taken, from awareness-raising campaigns and programs for students, parents and teachers, to the identification and intervention of relevant services in cases of risk.

Continuous monitoring of the situation and transparent public reporting are also planned. A municipal monitoring commission will be established and its results will be periodically evaluated.

The plan was developed in consultation with municipal departments, experts, education, health and social protection specialists, and development partners.
