Owners of 25 high-rise buildings will be able to improve the energy efficiency of their homes

The owners of 25 high-rise buildings in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti, as well as in the districts of Drochia, Soroca, Florești, and Orhei, have received their energy audit reports. They will be able to take advantage of energy-saving investments through the Moldova Residential Energy Efficiency Fund (FEERM).

Energy audit reports are an essential step in preparing investment projects and securing financing. They provide a comprehensive assessment of energy efficiency, identifying optimal solutions for reducing energy consumption and modernizing the housing stock.

The audits were conducted free of charge following an open call for proposals announced by the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED) in partnership with UNDP Moldova and with support from the Government of Denmark.

Grants for the renovation of multi-story buildings cover up to 70% of eligible costs, with tenants contributing the remaining 30%. For families vulnerable to energy costs who live in these buildings, their own contribution may be further subsidized through grants ranging from 15% to 90%, provided by the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund.

Furthermore, the initiative to participate in energy efficiency projects must be approved by the owners at general meetings, after which the homeowners’ associations will be able to submit applications for funding. It is estimated that implementing these projects will result in total savings of approximately 432 million lei and reduce energy consumption by an average of about 67%.
