This was stated by Orlen CEO Ireneusz Fafar, Polish internet portal bankier.pl reported. “We have started discussions about the possibility of our participation in Ukrnafta. We are one of the partners in this process. Whether this participation will take place and what it will be like is a matter of negotiations with the Ukrainian side,” the company’s head said.

According to Fafar, the Ukrainian market is extremely important for the group, especially for the oil refinery in Mazeikiai, Lithuania, which sells almost 18% of its production there.

“We believe that the war will end and Ukraine will be victorious. We would like to take a more active part in this market than we do now. We are one of the main partners in fuel supplies to Ukraine and we would like to strengthen this position,” Fafara emphasized.

He stressed that Orlen sells about 1.5 million tons of oil products in Ukraine every year.

In November 2025, Naftogaz and Orlen reached an agreement to supply 300 million cubic meters of US liquefied natural gas to Ukraine in the 1st quarter of 2026. In February, Naftohaz Group in partnership with Polish state-owned Orlen organized the delivery of the first shipment of US liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Ukraine in 2026.

JSC Ukrnafta is the largest oil production company in Ukraine, which performs a full cycle of upstream activities: exploration, production of oil and gas, provision of oilfield services, as well as management of the largest network of gasoline filling stations in Ukraine UKRNAFTA.
