Interior Ministry spokeswoman Adela Dittmannova said that a large part of the amendments concern adjustments to the temporary protection system in connection with the conflict in Ukraine.
In particular, now a residence permit will be revoked if it is established that a foreigner who received temporary protection was outside the Schengen zone for more than 30 days. About it writes BELTA with reference to the Czech edition Novinky.
“In such situations, it can be assumed with reasonable certainty that the foreigner will not return to the territory of the Czech Republic, or, more precisely, the Schengen zone. This is due to the legal regulations of some member states,” the explanatory note to the law submitted by the Ministry of the Interior states.
In addition, recipients of assistance intended for needy refugees must stay on the territory of the Czech Republic for at least 16 days per month for which the benefit is calculated.
According to the ministry, this should prevent persons who are not in the Czech Republic from receiving humanitarian aid.
Refugees will still be able to travel abroad for short periods to visit relatives or on official business without affecting their ability to receive benefits.
