Discussions at the meeting focused on bringing the national tax system into line with European standards, ensuring a level playing field for economic activity, and maintaining a balance between the level of taxation and the competitiveness of the business environment.
At the same time, the importance of strengthening voluntary compliance with tax laws and creating a tax system that promotes investment and economic growth was emphasized.
The consultations also addressed issues concerning specific sectors of importance to the national economy. These included, among other things, VAT taxation of the electricity and gas sectors, as well as the proposed tax regime for the financial and banking sector, non-bank credit institutions, and the insurance sector.
In this context, the meeting participants specifically discussed the impact of the tax burden on the development of the insurance sector.
Finance Minister Viktoria Belous emphasized the importance of dialogue with the business community in developing a competitive tax system adapted to economic realities.
The leadership of the Ministry of Finance highly commended the contribution of all stakeholders to the consultation process and promised to review the proposals and take them into account when finalizing tax policy for 2027.
