These and other figures were presented at the seventh Municipal Youth Forum – 2026, organized by the Chisinau City Hall.

“Youth is, first of all, our future, and we try to support, promote and motivate them,” said Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban, addressing the participants of the event. – In recent years, we have managed to increase investments in the youth sector, because we believe in the strength of young people and we want to see them at home”.

This thought was the quintessence not only of the speech, but also of the interactive dialog of the mayor with the audience, which was able to ask him questions for an hour.

Annual surveys reveal the problems of young people

Their communication was preceded by an analysis of the youth survey, which is conducted in the municipality every year before the forum and which deals with the problems faced by young people.

“Municipal Youth Centers were created in 2019 as the basis of youth infrastructure,” says the director Petru Grecu. – Young people are involved in various projects and programs, hobby clubs, thematic trainings. They can simply socialize, exchanging ideas, or talk to a psychologist. All this is absolutely free of charge.

Today there are ten such centers in the municipality – five in the city in each sector of the capital, and another five in the suburbs. The Mayor’s Office allocates 18 million lei per year to support them and pay their staff.

“The center cooperates with the municipal business incubator, which was created following one of the first such forums and surveys,” Petru Grecu added. – Young people were the initiators of its opening and can not only participate in training seminars for aspiring entrepreneurs, but also benefit from grant support for their projects”.
