About 250,000 residents of Moldova will receive drinking water from Romania

Currently, only one pipeline is in operation, carrying water from Iasi County through Măgurele.  In the coming years, the project is planned to be expanded to include four crossings so that more and more communities in the western regions of the country can be connected to the Romanian water supply system.

To this end, the Romanian regional operator ApaVital SA, through its Moldovan subsidiary ApaVital M, is expanding its operations in the Republic of Moldova, where it already manages several local networks and is preparing to acquire others.

The company proposes to build a new bridge across the Prut River between the cities of Sculeț (Romania) and Sculeț (Moldova). According to the company’s plans, these investments will provide drinking water to 15 settlements in the Ungheni and Fălești districts, including the city of Fălești.

At the same time, technical specifications are being approved for a third crossing over the Prut River, which will be built in the vicinity of the future bridge between Ungheni (Romania) and Ungheni (Republic of Moldova).

The project also includes a fourth cross-border connection along the Tabara (Romania)–Viilor (Moldova) route.

The initiative is based on cooperation agreements between the Republic of Moldova and Romania regarding the provision of public water supply services in the Ungheni, Nisporeni, Fălești, and Glodeni districts.
