As City Councilor Cornel Pintea explained to Logos Press, this is not the first time such a situation has arisen with large-scale projects like this. A similar situation arose with the tender for the preparation of the Chisinau Master Plan 2040, when the terms of participation were adjusted more than once due to a lack of interest from companies.
As a reminder, the capital’s City Hall building is listed in the Register of Historical and Cultural Monuments of the Municipality of Chisinau. It has never undergone a major restoration. The cost of the renovation work was preliminarily estimated at approximately 96 million lei, including VAT. The work is planned to be carried out in phases so as not to completely halt the institution’s operations.
As Logos Press previously reported, in July the City Hall announced its intention to attract as many companies as possible with experience in similar projects to the tender by sending information about the tender to international partners, embassies, business associations, and specialized construction companies both in Moldova and abroad.
A large amount of work lies ahead, which will take several years, given that this is a historic building of cultural and architectural value. The work will be carried out in several phases: first, the utility systems will be repaired, followed by the facade and roofs.
