ANSA did not allow bad pumpkin seeds to enter the Moldovan market

Products traditionally considered healthy do not always live up to the image either. The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) informs the public about the detention and return to the manufacturer of a batch of imported pumpkin seeds weighing a total of 15 tons. The product posed a health risk to consumers.

During inspections and sampling of imported products at border points under the food monitoring program, ANSA found pesticide residues (pyraclostrobin) in a shipment of pumpkin seeds at concentrations twice the maximum permissible limits.

The problematic consignment was placed under official control. According to the importer’s decision, the entire batch will be returned to the producer in the country of origin, ANSA said.

The above-mentioned pesticide belongs to the category of fungicides (disease control agents), its use and residual content in agri-food products are strictly regulated.
