She noted that she appreciates the efforts of the prime minister and the entire cabinet, and that “speculation that he wanted to combat corruption but was prevented from doing so is false.”
“I thank Mr. Munteanu for taking responsibility for the government during a difficult period when measures were needed to revive the economy and launch key structural reforms. /…/ Speculation that he wanted to combat abuses but was prevented from doing so is false. At the same time, she emphasized that she had expected greater involvement in making difficult decisions and greater openness toward citizens.
“I expected greater involvement in making difficult decisions, greater openness toward the people, and better consideration of opinions regarding the reforms and the reasons why we are implementing them.”

“It’s not easy to identify a candidate for the position of prime minister. We need to form a government fairly quickly,” added Maia Sandu.
