This was reported by the National Bureau of Statistics. Of these, the number of non-resident visitors admitted to the country reached 38,600 during this period (+4.2%).
At the same time, domestic tourism (travel by Moldovan residents within the country for tourism purposes) rose to 49,800 people (+11.1%).
At the same time, outbound tourism decreased by 3.2% compared to January–June 2025. The number of tourists from Moldova traveling abroad stood at 141,700.
During the period under review, outbound tourism accounted for the largest share—61.6%—while domestic and inbound tourism accounted for 21.6% and 16.8%, respectively.
In January–June 2026, tourism companies’ revenues totaled 1,897.1 million lei (9.3% more than in January–June of the previous year). Of this amount, outbound tourism generated 1,756.0 million lei (+8.9%), domestic tourism generated 97.2 million lei (+11.3%), and 43.9 million lei from inbound tourism (+25.4%).
During the period under review, the largest number of visitors came from Romania, Italy, and Spain. Among outbound tourism destinations, Turkey remains the most popular, followed by Egypt, Bulgaria, Romania, and Greece.
