The program emphasizes risk prevention through cross-sectoral cooperation among government agencies in the fields of environmental protection, public health, agriculture, and food safety. Necessary measures are being taken to ensure advance preparedness so that authorities can respond promptly and effectively, thereby reducing losses and damage to the population, communities, agriculture, and the environment.
Key measures include establishing a national spatial data system by developing data and risk maps to identify the most vulnerable areas, modernizing forecasting and early warning systems, and improving the monitoring of meteorological and hydrological phenomena.
Monitoring equipment and infrastructure will be modernized so that hazardous events can be detected more quickly and warnings can reach the public as soon as possible.
At the same time, measures are planned to restore and protect wetlands, conserve soil, and develop agricultural practices adapted to climatic conditions and extreme events, particularly in drought-prone areas. In highly vulnerable areas, research, preventive measures, and public information and awareness campaigns will be conducted to educate the public about natural disaster risks and protective measures.
These measures will help to provide faster and more accurate alerts about incidents, better prepare authorities and the public, and prevent damage caused by extreme events.
As part of this program, Moldova is strengthening its national system for preventing and reducing natural disaster risks and enhancing its capacity to protect the population, infrastructure, economy, and environment from increasingly frequent and intense natural phenomena.
