According to the National Police, the most difficult situation is in Straseni district, which was already seriously affected by floods last month. Due to unfavorable weather conditions, traffic was temporarily suspended on the Grebliesti – Recha highway, as well as on the local road between Kyrianka and Voinova.
In addition, traffic on the R-1 highway in the area of Caprijana was completely blocked, and at the entrance to the Straseni district there were large accumulations of water, seriously hampering the passage. The situation remains tense in other sectors as well: the access road to the village of Puhoi in the Yaloveni district was also blocked due to heavy rainfall.
The road connecting the settlements of Khomutyanivka and Gangura in Yaloveni district is currently blocked.
In these conditions, the emergency services are working in a reinforced mode to eliminate the consequences of the disaster. In the village of Panasesti, Strasheni district, rescuers carried out an operation to evacuate four people from a car stuck in the flood zone.
Problems are also observed in the capital: significant amounts of water have accumulated on Munchesti Street, which significantly complicates the movement of traffic. Patrol crews are constantly monitoring the situation on the ground and urge drivers to avoid flooded areas by exercising extra caution while driving.
Road workers’ response
The National Highway Administration reports that road services are working hard in several parts of the country to address the effects of heavy rains and the “Code Yellow” weather alert. Currently, works are underway to clear the carriageway, divert water and clear drainage systems on roads G105, G82, G97 and R6, passing through the districts of Ialoveni, Straseni, Singerei and Drochia.
“Code Yellow” is maintained
The current warnings of the State Hydrometeorological Service indicate the persistence of atmospheric instability. For the current period, forecasters predict thunderstorm rains and squally winds with gusts of up to 20 m/s, while on June 7, heavy downpours are expected with an accumulation of precipitation up to 45 l/m².
In this regard, the Inspectorate General of Emergency Situations calls on citizens to be as responsible as possible, recommending that they refrain from unnecessary travel and suspend any outdoor activities during the bad weather to avoid unnecessary risks.
