According to Detector404, the number of reports of malfunctions has reached tens of thousands, RBC reports. According to the service’s statistics, the first complaints began coming in around 5:20 a.m. on July 19, and within less than an hour, their number rose sharply. Users reported being unable to load the chat, errors when sending requests, and disruptions in the voice mode.
OpenAI confirmed the issue. On the company’s official status page, the incident was listed as a “Partial Outage.” The company stated that specialists were investigating the causes of the increased number of errors when loading and continuing conversations in ChatGPT, and later reported that measures were being taken to restore service. However, no timeline was provided for when the issues would be fully resolved.
This latest outage occurred amid a series of technical incidents affecting OpenAI’s services in recent days. For example, on July 15, the company addressed widespread issues with ChatGPT, including problems with the voice mode. On July 18, some enterprise customers encountered restricted access to the new ChatGPT app without Codex permissions, as well as isolated outages in the Codex service itself. All of these incidents were subsequently resolved, according to OpenAI.
As of this writing, OpenAI was continuing to monitor the situation and restore stable service.
