This was stated by Larisa Zaudalskaya, director of the organization’s legal department, at a meeting of the Commission on Economic Issues under the CIS Economic Council, according to TASS.
“Of the 140 international treaties in which they could remain, they have expressed a desire to remain in only 17. Documents relating to the protection of human rights are not included here <…>. “The first and most important issue is that they are asking to remain in the Free Trade Area agreement,” said Zaudalskaya.
The list of documents also includes agreements on combating the theft of cultural property, the theft of vehicles, illicit drug trafficking, and crime; an agreement on the technical modernization and renewal of the railway fleet, as well as treaties on the social protection of migrant workers and the recognition of benefits and guarantees for participants in the Great Patriotic War.
Meanwhile, on July 22, the Moldovan government approved the withdrawal from the agreement on cooperation in the field of publishing, book distribution, and printing, signed in 1995 in Almaty.
“Participation in this agreement no longer aligns with the national interests and current development goals of the Republic of Moldova’s cultural and publishing sectors,” commented Culture Minister Dan Suruceanu, who presented the draft resolution.
This decision must be approved by Parliament.
