This was reported by Jorge Rodríguez, the country’s National Assembly president. He noted that over the past 24 hours, the number of confirmed fatalities had increased by 52. The day before, authorities had reported 5,346 deaths. The number of injured remains unchanged at 16,740.
According to official data, 17,907 residents remain homeless. A total of 23,335 people are being housed in temporary camps—an increase of more than 200 over the past day. There are 107 temporary shelters operating across the country.
Medical assistance continues to be provided to those affected. Over the past day, the number of people who received treatment increased from 39,567 to 44,298.
Authorities are also continuing efforts to rebuild the affected areas, RBC reports. Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodríguez noted that the country has gained access to $346 million in an account with the International Monetary Fund. The funds are planned to be used to support affected families and to rebuild homes and critical infrastructure.
According to a preliminary estimate by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the direct economic damage from the earthquakes amounts to approximately $6.7 billion. The organization clarified that this amount reflects only direct physical damage and does not include long-term economic consequences or future reconstruction costs.
