In the Netherlands, drug users can bring psychoactive substances sold to them in for testing. The Trimbos Institute, located in Utrecht, reported that in August, testing centers received several such pills, which were found to contain “very high” levels of the chemical para-methoxymethamphetamine (PMMA), according to the BBC.
“Under no circumstances should you take this pill,” the institute’s warning states. The statement notes that the drug can cause “body overheating with potentially fatal consequences.”
The institute published photos of the pills, which feature Trump’s face on one side and the words “Trump” and “NL” on the other.
PMMA is a substance similar to MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine), the active ingredient in most ecstasy pills.
“However, the effects set in later, and the stimulant effect is often absent,” the Thrimbos Institute reported. “This increases the risk of overdose.”
Users are warned that a few hours after taking the pills, they may experience nausea, a rapid heartbeat, and seizures.
At the same time, Trimbos Institute spokesperson Annick Grootheis told the Associated Press that no deaths or serious health consequences have been reported among potential users so far.
