Maia Sandu and Volodymyr Zelenskyy
According to a presidential decree, Volodymyr Zelenskyy was awarded the order “for his exceptional contribution to the defense of peace and freedom on the European continent, as well as in recognition by the people of the Republic of Moldova of the courage of the Ukrainian people, thanks to which Moldovans are living in peace today”.
Today, Maia Sandu is in Kyiv. “For four and a half years now, Ukrainians have been defending their country, and through their courage, they are defending peace across the entire continent. Moldova lives in peace thanks to this courage,” Sandu wrote on social media.
On August 24, Ukraine celebrates Independence Day. To mark the occasion, the Parliament building of the Republic of Moldova was illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag the night before. An exhibition titled “Rebirth in Glory and Strength,” dedicated to Ukrainian cultural heritage destroyed or damaged as a result of the war, will also open in Parliament.
