The event took place at the Chadyr-Lunga City Hall as part of the “Traditional Gagauz Women’s Dernek (Gathering)” and brought together more than 30 active women and local community leaders.
More actively involving young people from the regions in public life
Olena Prysyazhnyuk, deputy chair of the Youth Council at the Agency for Interethnic Relations, responsible for education and intercultural dialogue, presented the council’s activities as a platform for young people to engage with government institutions.
Through the Council, representatives of various ethnic communities can put forward proposals, raise issues relevant to their regions, and participate in the development of joint initiatives.
Special attention was given at the meeting to the involvement of young people from the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia and other regions of the country. Among the areas where young people should have broader access to opportunities for participation were Taraclia, Bălți, Cahul, the northern and southern regions, as well as small towns and rural communities.
Participants were also informed about available opportunities for young people, including educational programs, volunteer work, youth exchanges, international programs, conferences, grants, and support for their own initiatives.
Intercultural Dialogue
The Agency for Interethnic Relations views the development of a network of active young people from various regions and ethnic communities as one of the key areas of work aimed at strengthening intercultural dialogue.
Expanding regional representation on the Agency’s Youth Council can help ensure that the needs and perspectives of young people from different communities are more frequently taken into account in interactions with government institutions.
The Council representative’s participation in the event in Chadyr-Lunga was part of efforts to foster direct dialogue with local communities and expand youth participation in public life.
The event was organized in collaboration with the civil society organization “Vreau să Cred” and UN Women Moldova.
