According to the head of government, back in January he promised his son that they would swim across the Bosphorus together. The young man had been training for the event for nearly a year, and the prime minister did not want to break his promise.
The swim began on the Asian shore of the strait and ended on the European shore. The prime minister noted the symbolic significance of the route, drawing a parallel with the Republic of Moldova’s path toward Europe.
“My son turned out to be faster than me—and few things can bring a parent more joy than seeing their child surpass them,” the prime minister wrote.
After the race, the head of government said they were returning to Chisinau “with our batteries recharged and our spirits high.”
“We have a lot of work waiting for us at home,” the prime minister added.
