U.S. President Donald Trump made this statement in an interview with WABC radio.
“We are bringing chip manufacturing back to our country. We didn’t have chips before—they were taken from us and given to Taiwan. Now, all the companies are coming back, and we are building the world’s largest chip manufacturing facilities, mainly in the state of Arizona. In the future, we will no longer need to import microchips,” he said.
In addition, the American leader emphasized that the United States intends to reduce its dependence on foreign supplies of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment. According to him, major corporations such as Eli Lilly, Pfizer, and Merck are already building new production facilities in the United States.
“The medical equipment industry is performing at record levels, because if companies don’t bring production back, they’ll have to pay significant tariffs when setting up operations in Germany or other countries. That’s why they’re building [factories] here,” Trump noted.
