Before him, Jamaican Usain Bolt was the undisputed champion in the 100-meter dash. He covered the distance in 9.58 seconds.

The humanoid robot “Molniya” ran 100 meters at a speed never before seen. This took place ahead of the Second World Competition for Humanoid Robots in the capital of the People’s Republic of China, according to the Belarusian website Tochka.by, citing China Central Television.

“The robot sprinter’s maximum speed during Saturday’s tests reached 14.5 meters per second,” the report states.

The humanoid robot competition is taking place in Beijing from August 22 to 26, 2026. A total of 666 teams from 16 countries are participating. The total number of robotic participants exceeds 2,000.

Earlier, Tochka.by reported that the Chinese company Unitree developed the “Superman” robot in just three months, a robot capable of surpassing human capabilities.

As a result, it broke world records for standing long jump and sprinting speed. Without a running start, the robot “soared” two meters high and accelerated to 45.6 km/h.

This turned out to be faster than the result achieved by Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, who reached a speed of about 44 km/h at the 2008 Olympic Games.

Unitree believes that its motor capabilities could improve even further in the near future.
