The issue of the condition of the lake, which is under the jurisdiction of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, was discussed on August 19 at a working meeting between representatives of the two ministries.
The parties agreed to conduct an on-site inspection of the area to assess the situation firsthand and identify the technical solutions needed to ensure a constant water supply to the lake.
Based on the results of the inspection, a joint action plan will be developed. It will outline the measures needed to maintain and preserve the body of water.
It is expected that further work will focus on ensuring that the lake can be preserved and remain part of the cultural and natural landscape of the Village Museum.
The Village Museum is located on the southern outskirts of Chisinau and is an open-air museum. It was opened on May 18, 1995.
The museum’s concept involves the reconstruction of a traditional 18th–19th-century Bessarabian village.
Specific technical solutions, project timelines, and the cost of a potential restoration have not yet been announced. According to information from the ministries, these details are to be determined following an inspection of the lake and the preparation of a joint action plan.
