As Ecaterina Cechina, the company’s director, told “Logos Press,” the lack of shipments is due to a scheduled shutdown of the factory for repairs. “Every year in July, the factory closes for one month, so during this hiatus, stores are selling off remaining stock of all our confectionery products. The factory has already resumed operations this week. So new batches of marshmallows should arrive in stores in just a few days.”
It should be noted that “Bucuria” produces about 80 metric tons of marshmallows per month. For the factory, this is a year-round product, not a seasonal one. The product line includes several varieties, such as classic marshmallows, fruit-flavored options, and glazed marshmallows.
The company emphasizes that “Bucuria” marshmallows are significantly different from the familiar Western-style marshmallows. It is based on natural ingredients: apple puree, sugar, egg whites, and pectin. It is precisely the combination of fruit puree, egg whites, and the gelling agent that forms the characteristic technological foundation of the “classic marshmallow.” This recipe defines the product’s main feature—a soft, springy texture. And its familiar taste and texture, which sets it apart from other sweets, make the marshmallows a top-selling item in the supplier’s product line.
According to management, “Bucuria” produces more than 7,800 metric tons of finished products per year. In Moldova, the factory sources sugar, honey, plums, flour, apple puree, dairy products, nuts, and jams. Approximately 100 million lei were allocated for the purchase of local raw materials in 2025. Today, the company employs about 950 people.
