As a result, the distance passengers must travel has increased significantly. On the usual route, through southern Moldova, the direct distance between Chisinau and Odessa is 200 km, while via the north it is about 700 km.
Earlier, the Moldovan Customs Service reported that traffic across the bridge near the village of Mayaki-Udobnoye (Ukraine) had been temporarily suspended. Currently, at the “Palanka–Mayaki–Udobnoye” and “Tudora–Starokozachye” border customs checkpoints, clearance of citizens and vehicles is being conducted only for entry into Moldova.
Exit from Moldova is possible only through the “Tudora–Starokozachye” border customs checkpoint. Moldovan citizens are advised to exercise caution and refrain from traveling to the Odesa region of Ukraine.
As a reminder, a similar situation involving the rerouting of traffic to Odessa via the Otach-Mogilev-Podolsky checkpoint occurred on December 18, 2025, due to a drone attack. The attack targeted the bridge over the Dniester River, located on the Odessa-Reni highway near the Moldovan-Ukrainian border.
