Authorities note that this does not mean giving up everyday habits, but simply planning certain household activities more efficiently to reduce the strain on the power grid.

The campaign includes messages to consumers such as: “Unplug your charger,” “The washing machine can wait,” “Dust isn’t going anywhere,” and “Heat the water, not the system.”

According to authorities, shifting some household activities to off-peak hours, using electrical appliances efficiently, and avoiding unnecessary consumption help maintain the stability of the power grid.

The campaign’s main message is “Consume less during peak hours.”

Vasile Tofan and Moldovan President Maia Sandu have previously made similar appeals.

The authorities’ appeals come amid a significant increase in electricity consumption in recent days, caused by extremely high temperatures. At the same time, experts cite the lack of capacity to store energy generated during the day as the main problem facing Moldova’s power grid, which forces the country to make more expensive purchases in the evening hours.

Today, S.A. “Energocom” reported that, despite the identified and reallocated volumes needed to cover consumption, the situation in the region remains challenging, and the availability of electricity on external markets is limited. Under these conditions, procurement costs are rising, especially during peak hours, which may affect consumer rates.

The company urges citizens to continue using electricity wisely, especially between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., to avoid unnecessary consumption, and, whenever possible, to shift the use of energy-intensive appliances to other times of the day.
