The index of the cost of living in the capital of Moldova has increased by 7% only for six months, and by 14% for the year as a whole, reports Logos Press.

The authorities of the capital of Moldova want to regulate the situation with parking in the city at the legislative level by submitting a relevant bill for parliamentary approval, reports Logos Press.

Although the drafts “On Approval and Enactment of Local Taxes for 2026” and “On Approval of the Chisinau Municipality Budget for 2026” received a positive opinion from the specialized economic commission of the Municipal Council, they were not considered by the councillors due to political disagreements, Logos Press reported.

The Chisinau Municipal Council approved at its November 28 meeting the payment of funds for teachers’ salaries, Logos Press reported.

Discussions have started in Chisinau on the preparation of an updated general urban plan (PUG) of the capital, the development of which is entrusted to a consortium led by SC ARHICON SRL from Bucharest, Logos Press reports.

Bidding with an open announcement of the price for the right to conclude a contract for the placement of a street trading facility in Chisinau will be organized according to new rules, – reports Logos Press.

Under the program “Startup for Youth and Migrants”, 27 projects were approved for financing for a total of 5.2 million lei through the Municipal Center for Entrepreneurship Development, Logos Press reported.

The tourist route that will connect the cities of Iasi, Chisinau and Odessa will be launched immediately after the end of the war in Ukraine and will become one of the main tourist destinations in Eastern Europe, – reports Logos Press.

The eighth attempt to approve the capital’s budget for 2025 failed. Chisinau will continue to work on last year’s budget. It is not yet clear if and when another attempt will be made. But if the muncipal council fails to do so by the end of this year, the story will become a precedent that happens for the first time in the capital.

On Wednesday, October 15, the issue of approving the budget – 2025 was on the agenda of the municipal council meeting, but then withdrawn, according to Logos Press.

Almost 71% of tourists who stayed in accommodations upon arrival in Moldova prefer the capital city, Logos Press reported.

Chisinau is not only the administrative capital of the country, but also the pillar of Moldova’s economy, which accounts for more than 60% of economic activity and concentrates more than half of the national industrial production, Logos Press reported.
